Climate Activists Pushing for Trial?

by Seedorama Staff on September 14, 2010

Andrew Hickman, at the Guardian, has recently explored the topic about activists, and their desire for charges related to protesting to hit trial. While an average protest might bring in the attention of a few local television stations, a wrongful arrest and unjust punishment will headline a paper.

As stated by TreeHugger, the thought that activists true goal is trial is nothing new – Jesus Christ for example. By putting focus on unjust punishment, a negative light can be seen on officials.

It’s quite obvious that many climate activists understand and embrace this technique. ‘By campaigning around the court case, we made allegiances with a huge number of groups that don’t usually campaign on environmental issues. One of our supporters is the Church of Scotland, who acknowledged that breaking the law was legitimate in our situation.’
