California Gives Plug-in Hybrids HOV Access

by Seedorama Staff on September 1, 2010

California Governor, Arnold Swartzanneger, signed bill SB 535 into law. The new law gives 40,000 new plug-in hybrid vehicles access to the HOV lanes starting in 2012.

Previously, tight regulations did permit access to certain vehicles to HOV lanes because of their environmental efficiency, but regulations were very tight. Some have suggested that regular hybrids be removed from HOV access to encourage owners to switch to even greener vehicles. What are your thoughts?
